Le film de 4 minutes Choose Hope story a rassemblé 250 réalisateurs du monde entier, et c’est la société de production Muse Story Telling qui lancé le challenge. L’objectif était de faire un film court portant un message d’espoir mondial malgré le Covid 19.
Tout est parti du poème Lockdown de Richard Hendrick qui était devenu viral. Muse Story Telling, a décidé d’engager la communauté pour réaliser ce film : 760 personnes du monde entier ont répondu à l’appel dont 250 réalisateurs.
Matthieu Meynier est un réalisateur français basé à San Francisco et a participé à ce film intitulé Choose Hope Story. Il a adoré participer à ce projet qui a été accompli en 10 
jours.
Chaque réalisateur devait essayer d’illustrer une des phrases du poème (ci-dessous, en anglais) et soumettre ses rushes à l’équipe de montage. Organisés en sous-groupes et chapeautés par des « community leaders », il leur était demandé d’aller filmer telle ou telle partie qui manquait au scénario. C’est ainsi, qu’après avoir filmé Lombard street, le Golden Gate Bridge, et les rues vides de San Francisco, on a demandé à Matthieu de rajouter une scène illustrant la solidarité. Il est donc aller filmer dans la cuisine de Food Runners, une association qui prépare des repas pour les sans-abri et les foyers d’accueil. Il est important pour Matthieu de nous préciser que le film a été réalisé dans le respect total des gestes barrière (port de masque et de gants) et des mesures de distanciation sociale.
Fasciné par l’organisation à distance d’un projet de cette envergure et fier d’en faire partie, Matthieu précise « que plus le projet avançait, plus on s’est rendu compte à quel point le film Choose Hope pouvait créer un impact positif et on espère que cela ne s’arrêtera pas là. Nous mettons les gens du monde entier au défi de continuer à se rassembler avec des histoires d’espoir en partageant leurs moments inspirants sur les réseaux sociaux avec #ChooseHopeStory »
Enfin, Matthieu rend hommage à Muse Story Telling qui vient d’entamer, gratuitement, une session de 4 semaines d’ateliers en ligne sur The Science of Story Telling ; « Il est intéressant pour les gens en ce moment de trouver une façon d’exprimer leur créativité et d’utiliser ce moment pour ralentir et apprendre de nouvelles choses »

Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
But,
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise,You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet. The sky is no longer thick with fumes.
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them. They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number through the neighbourhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on. Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness. Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness. Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love. Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love. Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able to touch across the empty square,
Sing.
