As artificial intelligence grows, so does its environmental footprint. During SF Tech Week, Sustainable AI for Practitioners: A Collaborative Workshop will bring together green-tech experts at 9Zero Climate Innovation Hub to explore practical ways to reduce AI’s energy, water and carbon impact.

Among the facilitators is French sustainable-AI expert Pascal Joly, alongside practitioners from the Green Software Foundation and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).

Designed for engineers, ML practitioners and sustainability professionals, the hands-on session will focus on concrete ways to measure and reduce AI’s footprint without sacrificing performance.

The session is aimed at engineers, application designers, infrastructure specialists, machine-learning practitioners and sustainability professionals working with AI. No previous experience with green software is required.

The facilitators bring experience from organizations including Google, HP, Tesla, Arize AI and Intuit, with the goal of giving attendees concrete ideas and tools they can apply to their own AI projects.

The workshop is part of SF Tech Week, the annual series of events bringing together startups, investors and members of the Bay Area technology ecosystem. It is hosted by 9Zero, San Francisco’s climate innovation hub.
