As part of the International Month of Francophonie, the Consulate General of France in San Francisco, in partnership with Villa Albertine, the San Francisco Public Library, and collaborating Francophone consulates, invites the francophone community of the Bay Area to a special evening celebrating the richness and diversity of Francophone cultures.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM, guests will gather at the San Francisco Public Library for a reception followed by a thought-provoking literary conversation featuring Felwine Sarr. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception before welcoming the French-Senegalese writer, thinker, and musician into dialogue with his American editor, Victor Reinking, Founder of Peregrine Press and Professor Emeritus at Seattle University.
A Major Voice of the Francophone World
Felwine Sarr is one of the most influential intellectual figures in contemporary Francophone thought. Internationally recognized for his reflections on the future of the African continent, the restitution of cultural heritage, and the power of language in shaping collective identities, Sarr brings a singular perspective at the crossroads of literature, philosophy, and cultural inquiry.
During this special event, he will present his recent book and engage in a transatlantic conversation with his American publisher — a fitting exchange during a month dedicated to dialogue, language, and shared cultural imagination.
