French 79 Live in San Francisco

French 79 is the solo electro-pop project of Simon Henner, a Marseille-based musician who launched the project in 2014. Known for his work with the bands Nasser and Kid Francescoli, Henner stepped into the spotlight with Olympic, his debut album released in 2016, which quickly established him as a rising star in the French electronic scene.

Henner has spent more than two decades crafting his own path in a city better known for its hip-hop roots. Encouraged by fellow local artists Kid Francescoli and Oh! Tiger Mountain, he embraced his passion for electronic music and developed a sound uniquely his own.

Following the success of Olympic and an extensive international tour, French 79 returned in 2019 with Joshua, a record that pays homage to electronic trailblazers like Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder, as well as to vintage sci-fi soundtracks and the raw beauty of analog synthesizers. His music blends nostalgia and innovation, often surfacing in commercials and visual media thanks to its cinematic quality.

His third album, Teenagers, inspired by his adolescence, features twelve original tracks and comes with an extensive international tour, including a stop in San Francisco in 2023 and a sold-out show at Zénith Paris – La Villette.

Beyond sound, French 79 brings a powerful visual element to his work. His live shows are known for their immersive staging and striking light design, making each performance a full sensory experience. His 2025 North America tour promises to reaffirm his commitment to the visual aspect of his music featuring his latest album TEENAGERS.

With collaborations alongside Vincent Delerm and Laurent Garnier, and a growing international fanbase, French 79 has firmly established himself as a leading voice in modern French electronic music.
