The French cellist Gautier Capuçon makes his highly anticipated return to San Francisco alongside Australian conductor Simone Young, for a series of performances with the San Francisco Symphony.

A leading figure on the international classical music scene, Capuçon has established himself as one of the most charismatic cellists of his generation. A regular at Davies Symphony Hall, he returns here with a program that is both virtuosic and accessible, featuring the iconic Cello Concerto No. 1 by Camille Saint-Saëns, a cornerstone of the French Romantic repertoire.

Conducted by Simone Young—renowned for her masterful interpretations of Wagner—the program also offers an immersion into the world of the Ring by Richard Wagner, in a reimagined orchestral version, as well as the San Francisco premiere of the contemporary work The Space Between Stars by composer Ella Macens.

Blending classical repertoire with contemporary creation, these concerts perfectly embody the San Francisco Symphony’s mission: to present programs that are ambitious, accessible, and rooted in their time. Gautier Capuçon’s presence—marked by both power and elegance—promises moments of rare musical intensity.

An unmissable event for classical music lovers and the Francophone community of the Bay Area.
