Directed by Alex Lutz, Caroline Loeb, star of the 1980s pop scene, becomes Françoise Sagan, the vibrant and passionate novelist who achieved success at the age of 18 with the (then) scandalous 1954 novel “Bonjour Tristesse.”

Presented by PIAFF in October 2023 in San Francisco, the play returns for two performances in the Bay Area in March 2025 with one of the two shows in English.

By adapting a compilation of Sagan’s interviews, Caroline Loeb brings to life the symbol of a generation breaking free from bourgeois dictates, this “charming little monster” as François Mauriac called her.

Sagan’s words are both sensitive and philosophical, and her sharp intelligence combined with a biting and subtle sense of humor always hits the mark. Sagan speaks to us about universal questions: life, death, love of course, but also her deep love for literature, her taste for play, and the importance of solitude.

For one evening, Caroline invites you to spend an intimate night with Françoise Sagan.
