If you are looking to read French books at a reasonable price, check Bibliothèque Orange without delay. This reading club like no other gives you access to 24 books per year without having to buy them. It counts already more than 130 subscribers in the San Francisco bay area!
The principle is simple: for 95$ per year, you have access to 2 French books per month that you can read at your own pace. At the end of the month, you swap your two books with someone from your local circle in an order set at the start of the year.
All the books that you will have access to were published the previous year and include different genres: novels, literature, essays, biography… and sometimes even translations of foreign literature.
The selection committee based in France chooses from over 400 new publications, purchases them, and makes them available to locally organized clubs for distribution to members.
The Bibliothèque Orange started in France in 1922 as a French non-profit organization and counts nearly 11,000 active members around the world.
How does that work?

Leave an email at bibliotek.fr@gmail.com, you will be in touch with the local manager based in Silicon Valley. She will tell you which of the eight local club located in the Bay area might be the best fit for you.
If you can’t find what you are looking for one reason or another, you can suggest to form your own circle with new members.
Bibliothèque Orange owes its success to several elements, the first being the variety of the books’ selection. But also to the fact that no one forces anyone to read this or that book, that the reading appreciations are welcome but not imposed, and that at the end of the year, the books are offered to schools, Alliances Françaises, or at municipal libraries.
Please note, registrations are open NOW and will close on October 15, 2021. After this date, you will have to wait until the next year to benefit from this incredible opportunity to read in French at an affordable price.
Thank you the Orange Library
