The film has just been released in France and brings together two now essential figures of contemporary French cinema: Jean-Pascal Zadi and Raphaël Quenard. With The American Dream [Le Rêve Américain], director Anthony Marciano delivers a success story inspired by a true story, blending basketball, friendship, and perseverance.
Presented in June in the Bay Area by French Première, the film follows the incredible journey of Bouna Ndiaye and Jérémy Medjana, two French outsiders who became influential agents for NBA players. One worked at Orly airport, the other in a video store in Amiens: nothing predestined them to enter the inner circles of American basketball.
Driven by the obvious chemistry between Jean-Pascal Zadi and Raphaël Quenard, Le Rêve Américain combines humor, emotion, and nostalgia for the 1990s and 2000s, while exploring the often invisible realities behind success stories: debt, failure, patience, and the importance of human connections.
