In May, French Première presents L’Affaire Bojarski (The Money Maker), a thriller inspired by a true story, directed by Jean-Paul Salomé.
Starring Reda Kateb, Sara Giraudeau, and Bastien Bouillon, the film follows the fascinating fate of Jan Bojarski, a Polish engineer who took refuge in France during World War II. After first using his skills to forge documents for the Resistance, he later slips into a double life after the war, putting his extraordinary talent to work making counterfeit banknotes, while eluding the relentless pursuit of the famed Inspector Mattei for years.
Part film noir, part historical drama, and part intimate portrait, L’Affaire Bojarski explores the solitude of an exceptional man, torn between recognition, secrecy, and family life. A gripping dive into the little-known story of the man some still remember as “the man who shook the Banque de France.”
With its refined visual style and almost artisanal approach to crime, the film follows in the great tradition of French noir while resonating with contemporary themes of exile, identity, and marginality.
