French Cinema: “At Work” with Bastien Bouillon | 2 Screenings in San Francisco & Mountain View

French Premiere presents At Work (À pied d’œuvre), a powerful film carried by one of the most acclaimed actors in contemporary French cinema: Bastien Bouillon.

Brought to wide public attention with The Night of the 12th (La Nuit du 12) by Dominik Moll — a performance that earned him the César Award for Best Actor — Bastien Bouillon has established himself as a major presence in French cinema today. He has also appeared in Seule : Les dossiers Silvercloud, The Sitting Duck (La Syndicaliste), and in Leave One Day (Partir un jour),  previously screened in the Bay Area by French Premiere and still remembered here with emotion.

In At Work / À pied d’œuvre, he portrays a writer facing a deeply personal upheaval that forces him to question his commitments, his choices, and his responsibility toward the world, in a tense and profoundly human narrative.

Directed by Valérie Donzelli, a singular voice in French auteur cinema. A respected filmmaker and screenwriter, she first gained international recognition with Declaration of War (La Guerre est déclarée), a multi-award-winning film presented at Cannes, followed by Marguerite & Julien and Notre Dame. Her cinema blends emotional intensity, narrative energy, and a sharp sensitivity to human fragility and resilience.

With At Work / À pied d’œuvre, Valérie Donzelli once again demonstrates her ability to explore intimate storytelling with precision, offering Bastien Bouillon a role of remarkable depth.

Praised by the French press — “At his very best” (La Croix), “Impeccable” (Télérama), “Remarkable” (Libération) — the film stands out as one of the must-see French cinema events in the Bay Area.

🎬 All films are screened in French with English subtitles.
