After more than a year since its grand opening, the Francophone Community Museum in San Francisco is more vibrant than ever, and ready to welcome you, your students, your club, or your organization for a visit!
Opened in May 2024 in the premises of Alliance Française de San Francisco, the museum is the first of its kind in the United States, entirely dedicated to honoring the stories, achievements, and contributions of Francophone immigrants in California.
Discover the rich history and vibrant contributions of the French-speaking community in San Francisco and across the state. The museum celebrates the cultural, economic, and social impact of Francophone individuals and groups through engaging permanent exhibits, such as the story of early French settlers and their role in shaping the region. It also features dynamic temporary art exhibitions showcasing contemporary Francophone creativity.
Located in the heart of San Francisco on Bush Street, within the premises of the Alliance Française, the museum offers:
– Guided tours (in English or French)
– Educational programs for schools and universities
– Special group visits (by appointment)
– Rotating exhibitions and cultural events
Whether you are a local history enthusiast, a French teacher looking to bring your class, or part of a community group interested in heritage and immigration, this is the perfect place to discover a rich, often overlooked chapter of Californian history. Éloïse Arnaud, Francophone Museum Ambassador, is happy to welcome you and your groups to
explore the stories and heritage brought to life within the museum.
