French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and American pianist/singer Michael Feinstein join forces for the first time in an innovative program celebrating the music of George Gershwin and his world, incorporating jazz, ragtime and classic works from the Great American Songbook.
Don’t miss these two effervescent musicians with a love of jazz and popular song coming together with the SF Symphony for a spectacular evening.
“This opportunity to collaborate with Michael is really a dream come true. Since our first meeting I felt that incredible chemistry between us and always wanted to share the stage with him. I am so excited about this project, and I know it will be magical because we will truly inspire each other.” -Jean-Yves Thibaudet
As part of S.F. Symphony’s Great Performers Series, the program will include beloved works and songs by Gershwin, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, Richard Rogers and Alec Wilder, presented with commentary and anecdotes that provide a historical and social context. A centerpiece of the program will feature lost and unknown Gershwin works, some written for two pianos, created alongside his most famous works, including Rhapsody in Blue.
Two pianos: Who could ask for anything more? showcases the unique gifts of each artist for creativity, virtuosity and sheer joy of music making.
