Marine Malta and her designer husband Benoit, both originally from Aubagne, are embarking on their American dream by taking over the beloved San Francisco store, Rare Device. Despite having professional experience in different fields, they are eager to uphold the store’s stellar reputation and continue curating unique, small artist pieces. While they may plan to introduce some artists from Marseille in the future, they are committed to maintaining Rare Device’s eclectic international vibe rather than making it a French-centric shop. The couple is thrilled to work with the existing team and ensure that the store’s inviting aesthetic remains.

Now settled in San Francisco after overcoming visa challenges, Marine and her husband have embraced the Sunset neighborhood community, where they live with their two young daughters. Active in their daughter’s school cooperative, they have quickly adapted to the local way of life, viewing the store as an extension of their personal journey.

They are hosting a hello/goodbye party (well, rather Bonjour& Goodbye) at Rare Device on September 26th, where they will officially take the reins from Giselle Gyazlen, the current owner.

Owning and developing a concept store is a “coup de coeur” moment in the couple’s life, and we wish them Bonne chance in this adventure. Even though they won’t be selling “made in France” items, they will surely be delighted to count on the support of our French community here! And it’s perfect timing, Holiday shopping is just around the corner (yes, really!)…

Hello/Goodbye Party – RARE DEVICE
date: Thursday September 26th, 2024 – 6pm to 8pm
address: 600 Divisadero st- San Francisco
