Zaho Le Moniès de Sagazan, known professionally as Zaho de Sagazan, is a renowned French singer-songwriter and musician from Saint-Nazaire, France.
Acclaimed as a prodigy of French pop, Zaho de Sagazan is set to perform at The Independant in San Francisco this December, bringing her evocative music and powerful stage presence to an international audience. Her performances are often accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Tom Geffray and musicians from the Inuit group, promising a memorable experience for attendees.
Coming from an artistic family, being the daughter of painter Olivier de Sagazan and cousin of director Lorraine de Sagazan, Zaho’s early years were marked by a strong interest in dance and music, leading her to pursue a music career. She began by posting musical videos on Instagram and performing locally, gradually building her reputation.
In March 2023, Zaho released her debut album, La Symphonie des éclairs, which propelled her to fame. Her unique blend of 1980s electronic music, Krautrock, Darksynth, and French chanson, inspired by artists like Jacques Brel, Barbara, and Tom Odell, resonated widely. Her emotionally charged performances, often addressing themes of hypersensitivity, have captivated audiences.
Her meteoric rise was underscored by her sweeping victory at the 39th Victoires de la Musique awards in February 2024, where she won in four categories, including original song and album of the year. Zaho’s album was certified Platinum in April 2024, and she delivered a standout performance at the Cannes Film Festival’s opening ceremony.
