It’s a wrap for the 9th edition of the French American Business Awards (FABA)! The annual celebration of the top French-American business achievements of the year coincided with the 40th anniversary of the French-American Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco, a significant milestone for the Bay Area chapter which is flourishing in Northern California and just announced that it will be spearheading the revival efforts of the Los Angeles FACC chapter.

Introduced by Co-President Thomas Célerier and Executive Director Anne-Emmanuelle de Boysson, the French American Business Awards is the FACCSF’s flagship event of the year–an exceptional ceremony honoring the top French-American companies, entrepreneurs, and executives in the Bay Area for their outstanding achievements and sustained excellence in management and leadership.

In his opening remarks, Frederic Jung, the Consul General of France in San Francisco, highlighted the vitality of the French-American business ecosystem, especially in California, and emphasized France’s attractiveness as a business destination (the most attractive country in Europe for foreign investment notably from Tech companies) as well as its leadership in the AI sector, with the first AI Action Summit to be held in France in February 2025.

Once again showcasing the dynamism of the French-American business community, this year’s FABAs honored ten companies and individuals across various categories relevant to the regional ecosystem:

In the startup category, both the Public Choice’s Award and the Jury Prize went to HelloBiome (founded by Dr Elsa Jungman), a B2B AI biotech startup leveraging the microbiome data to create innovative and targeted consumer health solutions.

The tech company category saw Outsight winning under the $50M revenue/funding bracket for their 3D LiDAR data solutions that track the movement of people and vehicles, and improve operations and safety in transportation hubs, while Brimstone was recognized in the over $50M category for their carbon-neutral cement production process.

Other notable winners included Moon Surgical in the healthcare category for their advanced surgical guidance systems, and Qorvo, which was recognized for their significant R&D presence in France.

Chandon California was named Winery of the Year, following the estate’s remarkable renovation, and One65 won Restaurant of the Year for the excellence of its multi-level culinary experience. The Deal of the Year Award was given to Cristel de Rouvray for her leadership in ESI Group’s acquisition by Keysight Technologies, and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Jean-Noël Fourmeaux for his distinguished career as a winemaker in Napa Valley.

The fireside chat with guest of honor Philippe Kahn, a trailblazer in technology and entrepreneurship, who founded Fullpower-AI, merging generative AI with biosensing  for personalized health advancement, further illuminated the excellence and forward-thinking spirit of the French-American business community of the Bay Area.

The 9th installment of the French American Business Awards, held at the elegant Palace Hotel in San Francisco, unequivocally celebrated and honored the diversity, support, and innovation thriving within the vibrant French-American entrepreneurial landscape. Anticipation for next year’s festivities is already palpable!
