On March 20th, BELWEST, the Belgian-Luxembourg American Chamber of Commerce for the Western States, launched its San Francisco Chapter in the presence of notable figures including its CEO Alain Charbonnier, Luxembourg Consul General Daniel Da Cruz, Honorary Belgian Consul Nathalie Delrue, Hubert Goffinet, Eric Gabrys, Oleksii Khorosh Consul of Ukraine in San Francisco and Sean Randolph Senior Director at Bay Area Council Economic Institute, marking a pivotal step in fostering business connections across continents.

Led by David Hubert, with support from Belwest Bay Area board members Katrien Herdewyn and Martine Bolsens-Peetermans, the San Francisco chapter aims to bring together the Belgian, Luxembourg, and European business communities and ecosystems, offering strategic services and developing new offerings to help entrepreneurs reach their full potential, with the Bay Area being a global center for technology and innovation, home to thousands of technology companies and prestigious universities.

Emerging from the informal Belgian Business Club created in 2016, Belwest is a Californian  non-profit association inaugurated in June 2022 in Los Angeles. San Francisco’s first chapter ‘s opening will be followed by San Diego on March 28, Brussels on April 11, Portland on April 24, and Luxembourg in May.

Belwest stands as a unique bridge between Europe and the American West, serving thirteen western US states. The chamber’s mission is clear—to facilitate growth, collaboration, and networking opportunities for businesses of all sizes and backgrounds.

“Belwest welcomes diverse businesses regardless of their size, location, or nationality, offering expansion services, effective networking platforms, and advocacy support.”

One of Belwest’s key strengths lies in its emphasis on building a strong community. Through special interest groups, network expansion in the Western US, engagement with C-level executives and entrepreneurs, and a minimum of annual events, Belwest ensures that its members thrive in a growing and supported global community.

Belwest offers a range of membership levels tailored to suit different objectives, making it adaptable and inclusive, either to join like-minded professionals, expand reach, or find leads among high-level executives, or advance advocacy through the BLCCA Federation, Belwest provides the platform and resources to its members.

The testimonies of industry leaders like Guillaume Bourcy, founder of OOFTY, attest to the value of Belwest’s community in driving business growth and forging essential connections.

In essence, Belwest offers more than just a chamber of commerce—it offers a gateway to thriving in an interconnected global economy. For those looking to expand their business horizons and make meaningful connections, Belwest stands as a beacon of opportunity and growth.
