San Francisco Ballet’s current  program, British Icons, is a captivating showcase of two distinguished ballets rarely seen in North America: Sir Frederick Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand and Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Song of the Earth. The latter, Song of the Earth, features spellbinding vocal performances by San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows, adding an exquisite layer of artistry to the production.

Meanwhile, Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand, staged by Coyle and with principal coaching by Artistic Director Tamara Rojo, holds its own allure, especially as SF Ballet bids farewell to principal dancer Yuan Yuan Tan in her poignant performances on February 10 and 14.

This program opened on February 9 with a tribute to the late Anthony Russell-Roberts CBE, nephew of Frederick Ashton and former Administrative Director of The Royal Ballet.

Dates: From Feb. 9, to Feb 14, 2024
Address: War Memorial Opera House 301 Van Ness Avenue San Francisco
