Francis Cabrel will perform on June 6, 2024, at the Fox in Oakland as part of his Trobador tour.

Francis Cabrel is a singer-songwriter who gained recognition after his debut single “Petite Marie” in 1974.

Inspired by the songwriting aesthetics of Bob Dylan, Cabrel taught himself to play the guitar. The singer then formed the group Maïna Pub and began performing songs by the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and the Rolling Stones. After the group disbanded, Cabrel started a solo career and participated in a talent competition in the southwest of France, which he won. Impressed by his songwriting skills, Cabrel was invited to record an album, released in 1977 under the title “Les Murs de Poussière.”

The singer then moved to Paris and recorded his second album, “Les Chemins de Traverse.” The second single from the album, “Je l’Aime à Mourir,” was a real success in France and led to a series of successful albums in the 1980s, including “Fragile” in 1980, “Carte Postale” in 1981, “Quelqu’un de l’Intérieur” in 1983, “Photos de Voyages” in 1985, and “Sarbacane” in 1989.

In the 1990s, the singer-songwriter returned to the south of France and began writing and recording at his own pace.

While the musician has won several awards over the years for his albums, Cabrel is best known for his singles “Petite Marie,” “Je l’aime à mourir,” “L’Encre de tes yeux,” “La corrida,” and “Je t’aimais, je t’aime, je t’aimerai.”

Francis Cabrel’s 14th studio album, À l’aube Revenant, released in 2020, is a tribute to the troubadours, whom he considers himself the heir to. He subsequently embarked on a Troubador tour during which he recorded a live album with 31 tracks released on December 3, 2021.

We are pleased that Francis Cabrel will be performing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
