The TLF kicks off its theater season with La Vie est une fête ! (play n French)

Is it because he was born on January 1st that Romain made Audrey Hepburn’s phrase his mantra? “Life is a party, dress up for it.” From one birthday to another, the young man tells his carefree life amidst the societal upheavals of the 20th century and the early 21st century.

Romain, portrayed by Julien Alluguette (winner of the Avignon à l’Unisson 2022 award for Best Actor and also seen in the series “Ici tout commence”), is the only son of a depressive mother, played by actress Virginie Lemoine, who never got over not having a daughter, and a father who loves him twice as much but is too clumsy to express it. Romain dreams of a simple and ordinary life, but his discovery of his homosexuality will force him to live it differently.

The play takes you on a rollercoaster of laughter and emotions. Special mention for the direction by Virginie Lemoine and the cast of actors who perform with finesse and delicacy. This piece can be seen as a kaleidoscope of France and its evolution through the lens of a family unit.
