Left Bank is the new brasserie opened by chef Roland Passot and his partners in the vibrant Jack London Square neighborhood in Oakland, an expanding pedestrian zone. Opened late February 2023, the venue was only serving dinner, and is now opened for lunch during the week and during week-ends.
Located on the waterfront, the restaurant which has the look and feel of a French brasserie offers a traditional menu with mussels and fries, bouillabaisse, beef bourguignon, duck confit, almondine trout, without forgetting the desserts such as profiteroles or café Liègeois… It adds a little American touch thanks to the executive chef Chris Ahr with, for example, fried chicken and burgers.
Let’s highlight that Left Bank Oakland’s specialties include seafood platters to honor its proximity to the Bay and its produce.
Roland Passot reminds us that he favors short cycles and local products as much as possible. Every time he trains his chefs in the various places he has opened in the Bay, he takes them to the local market, makes them meet the producers with whom he works, and nurtures relationships with the local economy.
In terms of decoration, everything is there to reproduce the atmosphere of a brasserie with its magnificent banquettes, a grandiose bar, and a very pleasant terrace on this pedestrian zone with bistro tables and chairs. A huge wine cellar and a champagne cellar complete the experience!
Left Bank also has a room that can be privatized for professional or private events with 40 to 50 seats or more in cocktail buffet mode. This room has the advantage of really resembling a dining room and not just a private suite.
To get there from San Francisco, just take a ferry from Embarcadero to the Port of Oakland located three minutes walk from Left Bank Oakland.
