Published in December 2021 by Editions Equateurs, Little Philosophy of Improvisation is a book to make our lives a great creative adventure!
” Do what you want !” It is from this mantra that Ibrahim Maalouf opens his improvisation lessons. Why is it so urgent to reconnect with the art of improvising? A child naturally invents with more freedom than an adult. This freedom, however, is lost as we learn. However, beyond music, improvisation is a real philosophy of life, of knowing the Other and oneself, of overcoming our fears and the unknown. Musical creation, his dual culture – Lebanese and French -, his personal history, his role as a son and as a father, teacher, his encounters, the joys and tragedies that shape our lives have undoubtedly contributed and encouraged this reflection. With passion and humility, the famous trumpeter shares his experiences, his advice and suggests new avenues for a society more in tune with the essentials and the vibrations of the world.
Born in Beirut in 1980, Ibrahim Maalouf is today one of the most popular instrumentalist on the French music scene. Musician, composer and producer, he has been teaching since 1998. He advocates for improvisation in the world of classical music and beyond. A Little Philosophy of Improvisation is his first book.
