Stromae is back on stage and his American tour will stop in San Francisco on October 25 and 26, 2022!!!
His album Multitude comes after a period of burn-out forcing him to take a break from performing. Forced leave has its good sides: settling down, leading a more relaxed, embracing a more structured life, being closer to his family, making work exciting again, broadening his sources of inspiration, and putting what he experienced during this phase difficult at the heart of new songs.
Far from any egocentric self-pity, Stromae took advantage of this period of his life to identify more closely with others, putting himself in the shoes of characters for whom he feels sympathy (in the etymological sense “to suffer with”). In doing so, he gives the title Multitude a deep resonance, the very one that Walt Whitman conveys in his poem, whose opening Stromae could take up: “Of every hue and caste am I, of every rank and religion.”
