The very first San Francisco Bastille Day celebration took place in 1880, and this year – 142 years later – the Official Committee of French American Organizations of Northern California is organizing its grand Bastille Day 2022 celebration with an outdoor festival open to all and offering many activities.
The event will happen on Saturday, July 16th, 2022 from 11 am till 7 pm at Embarcadero Plaza, across from the Ferry Building in San Francisco.
The celebration organized under the patronage of the Consul General of France in San Francisco, Frederic Jung, is open to French, Americans, and all residents and visitors of the Bay Area.
Participants will enjoy a multitude of French cultural associations, food, wine and beer booths, a Citroen vintage cars show, “Pétanque” competitions, tours of the San Francisco’s French Quarter, French musicians, and all kinds of fun for the entire family!
There will also be a “Course de Serveuses et Garçons de Café” (waiters’ race) with prizes offered by Decathlon.
The day’s activities will include performances by a Tahitian dance group, the Hui Tarava, and an opportunity to dance tamoure. Thanks to French bee, the first long-haul, low-cost French airline flying direct from San Francisco to Papeete, you can enter a sweepstake to win a ticket for two from SFO to Tahiti!
The festival will conclude with the enjoyment of one local French band, “Dernière Minute”.
The Bastille Day 2022 celebration is expected to draw up thousands of visitors throughout the day!
