The good news of the week (of the year!) is that some museums are about to reopen in San Francisco. Even better news, some will be free for a few days.
Obviously San Francisco museums are reopening with a plethora of safety measures from extra cleaning to mandatory facial coverings and physical distancing. Additionally, because they operate at reduced capacity, you have to book your time slot online in advance. Make sure to also double-check the hours of opening, check the websites for additional information, and download a self-guided tour on your mobile device.
Here is the announced schedule for the reopening of the de Young Museum, the SFMOMA, and the Asian Art Museum.
De Young Museum
It’s expected to reopen to the public on Friday, Sept. 25th. (double-check, the website reads “pending approval of the city of San Francisco”). From Sept 22nd through 24th, only members will be admitted.
But you can reserve your timed tickets online starting now for Frida Kahlo: Appearances can be deceiving exhibition.
Hours: Tuesdays – Sundays, 9:30 am–5:15 pm
