The holidays are over ! After all the diners, king’s cake and champagne, it’s time for a body detox with Valerie Orsoni. After all Spring break isn’t that far away, so it’s time to “shape up.”
We have decided to focus on ketogenic diet.
What? You have never heard about the ketogenic diet, aka keto? But where have you been for the last 18 months? Are you living in the Bay area?
I would argue that one out of ten people in the Bay have heard about this diet based on high fat/low carbs consumption.
You have those asking questions like… Is it good? Is it hard to follow? Will I really lose weight? And those providing feedback like… I’m following it and never felt that good, I reduced my sleep time, I feel so good that I prepare a marathon or my neighbor tried it but gave up, too hard to follow… In few words, many people have questions, few have answers.
So, when we heard that Valerie Orsoni, the coach of the stars, the founder of LeBootCamp.com was releasing a new detox program based on a ketogenic diet, we decided to have a closer look.
Valerie Orsoni is not your average coach. In her hall of fame, one can find multiple TV shows in the US and in France, a whopping 1,5 million users who have enrolled in her different fitness programs, 39 books published in different languages… you name it.
First and foremost, here is the definition of the standard ketogenic diet: it should consist of about 75% fat, 20% protein and only 5% of carbs per day. The focus is on food like eggs, meat, dairy, low-carb vegetables and sugar free beverages. And of course, no processed food. Hopefully, that’s a given.
The reduction of carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis ; your body feeling the lack of carbs, it dips into its reserves and will start burning fat (instead of carbs) to get its necessary energy.
It claims to also turn fat into ketones in your liver, which can supply energy to the brain. Beyond the weight loss, it should trigger multiple health benefits.
Of course, there are different flavors of this standard diet but,Valérie Orsoni put together her own, wisely named Keto Smart.
She thinks the standard keto strategy is hard to sustain but also dangerous and unhealthy.
In the ebook that goes with her Keto Smart program, Valérie Orsoni warns us against the danger of the ketogenic standard diet, before explaining why and how she has adapted it to make it easier and healthier to follow for people who want to lose weight, or just feel better.
She proposes going with 50% fat (from animal or vegetal origins), 35% protein and 15% carbs. And she refuses to count calories.
As an option, Valérie Orsoni suggests that doing a 16-hour fasting to help going further but the diet works without fasting.
Her ebook counts 28 days of menus, multiple recipes that can be adapted for plant based diets. She declares that she has a sweet tooth so her recipes address this “need.”
Finally, Valerie Orsoni proposes to the happy detox followers to join a private Facebook group where they will be able to ask as many questions as they want and participle to live sessions with Valerie once a week.
This program, Keto Smart is sold $59 as a standalone program but can be combined with the bootcamp program. Beware, the ebook is in French so if you don’t speak French, you can go to the US website of LeBootCamp.com, to get coached in English.
Ready to start the year with a challenge?
Merci Valerie
