When two stars meet, it results in a glamorous and artistic wedding !! On November 23, 2019 Mathilde Froustey and Mourad Lahlou said “I do” for life! Beneath the immense rotunda of Ken Fulk’s Saint Josephs Art Society, nearly 500 guests gathered to celebrate this union. In the presence of family and friends a festive ceremony took place, punctuated by artistic performances.
Mourad Lahlou, chef and owner of the eponymous restaurant Mourad (1 Michelin star) and Aziza (recently reopened), married Mathilde Froustey, San Francisco Ballet’s principal dancer. These two expatriates, one from Morocco, the other one from France, are perfect representatives of our community within San Francisco Bay. They had brought some of their families members, but they were largely surrounded by their friends. When you are an expatriate, friends become family. Dominique Crenn, a long-time friend of Mourad, participated in the ceremony by translating the words of Pierre Froustey, who married the couple symbolically, by his state of mayor in France. To see the father of the bride, with his tricolor scarf marrying his daughter was a moment of particular emotion.
This extended family, made up of chefs, artists and friends from afar, made this wedding a unique moment, like a gigantic, enchanted feast, under the sign of love. With Clara Bijl as MC, the humor was not left behind.
In lieu of a registry list, the couple created a foundation called Mise En Place, to provide mental help and support to kitchen’s workers. In partnership with therapists, doctors and coaches, they will help any one in need of support, rehabilitation or just provide a safe place to talk. If you wanted to support them helping kitchens’ people, you can contribute here. Donate to Mise En Place
We wish them all the best! Congratulations!
