MONELLE (1948) stars the incomparable Louis Jouvet and incandescent Dany Robin in a bittersweet story of music and misplaced love. A beautiful young piano prodigy (Robin) is on her way to success in the hands of her mentor (Jouvet). Everything goes well until some anecdotal event happens and derails the well oiled life of Jouvet and his beloved wife.
Director Henri Decoin, known for his noirs, proves flawless in his direction of this charming, heart-churning melodrama. The dialogue are great.. sharp and fun at the same time. This is a must see!

This projection is part of a serie called “The Other Side of the Lost Continent”. A second movie “Shadow and Light” with Simone Signoret and Maria Casares will follow Monelle at 2:20pm the same day.
