The 12-day Flower Piano Festival is one of the most anticipated musical event in the Bay Area.
It’s the fifth year at the Botanical Garden with a special edition for its anniversary. It will offer new opportunities for the public to play, with multiple performances by professional musicians, special events for families. It will also include an early evening program, a Sing-Along, free piano lessons and three nights of Pianola night, a special event after dark with food trucks and open-air bars.
Free during the day for residents of San Francisco, (and only the entrance fee to the Botanical Garden for visitors), it will be necessary to buy a ticket for the night concerts and the family evenings “Flower Piano at Sunset”.
By day – opening of the festival on July 11th at 9 am and opening ceremony at 4 pm with a session of Sing Along. San Francisco loves Sing Along!!
Then during the day, there is a whole program of Yoga classes and treasure hunts. Pianists of all levels and ages can come and play. Of course, it will be easier to find pianos available on weekdays (including many grand pianos).
Visitors who do not play can enjoy impromptu concerts of foreigners and talented neighbors who come in hundreds, often with scores in hand, to play for the enjoyment of the audience.
On weekdays, from noon to 1 pm, concerts are offered by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from July 15th to July 19th.
For those who never had the pleasure to take piano lessons, the Community Music Center offers free 20-minute lessons for beginners 12 years and older, from July 16th to 18th, from Monday to Friday.
Bookings for classes will be available online from July 5th and in person.
