The car can be picked up at specific locations, you can unlock it with the app installed on your cell phone and return it to the same place. Everything is included gas, insurance and maintenance (not the tolls). Your details and payment method are already in the app.
Three companies share the market in San Francisco, each offering slightly different service.
– Getaround, which does not have its own car park but provides the car of an owner who does not always use his car. This detail aside, no monthly subscription and super easy to use. Available in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley.
– Zipcar, a subsidiary of Avis Group. The cars belong to Zipcar, they are found in many places in the bay (San Francisco, Mountain View, Daily City, San Jose, Berkeley, Oakland ….). You have to subscribe to the service with a small monthly fee.
– Maven, a subsidiary of General Motors. Be careful only in San Francisco for now. As for Getaround, Maven does not have its own cars park.
